Bringing together professionals from veterinary medicine, community development, conservation, tourism, and business, we are united by a shared commitment to improving animal welfare and supporting our local communities. Each member plays a vital role in delivering quality care, driving innovative outreach, and building a more sustainable future for people and animals in the Victoria Falls region.
Born in Harare and a graduate of UZ (year tbc), Dr. Moyo joined the Victoria Falls Animal Health & Welfare Centre (VFAHWC) at its opening in 2016. He holds a Dangerous Drugs License, enabling him to assist wildlife in need. Dr. Moyo’s expertise and commitment have made a lasting impact on the community.
A resident of rural Ntabayengwe Village, Themba completed his ‘O’ Levels (year tbc) and joined VFAHWC in 2018. His deep local knowledge, dedication to the centre, and support for Dr. Moyo are highly valued.
Butholezwe is passionate about animals and dedicated to their care. He enjoys learning about their unique behaviors and ensuring they live healthy, happy lives. As a Trainee Assistant and Groom, he’s eager to expand his skills and contribute to the CARE team, making a positive impact on both animals and the community.
Born and raised in Harare, Susan holds a BA in Psychology (UNISA) and a Masters in Coaching (Oxford Brookes, UK). With 40+ years in learning and development, she is also a licensed Tour Guide and co-founder of Simply Africa. Susan joined VFAHWC in late 2016 as Volunteer Administrator. Her passion for eco-psychology and support for the team help drive CARE’s impact.
Born in Australia, raised in Zimbabwe, Dr. Thorne co-founded a large UK veterinary practice specializing in dairy cattle and conservation. He holds an RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health & Production and a Dangerous Drugs License, and owns Daka Plains Safari Camp and Rhino Camp in Zimbabwe.
A licensed Professional and River Guide, PADI-certified instructor, and fluent in multiple languages, Blessed has over 20 years’ guiding experience across Africa. Growing up in Chisuma, his connection to nature and understanding of both urban and rural life make him a vital asset to CARE.
An environmental activist and community development leader with 20 years’ experience, Douglas founded United Children of Africa (UNICA) and directs Pristine Victoria Falls Society. His work has led to major educational and environmental initiatives, including city-wide cleanups and classroom construction in Hwange. Douglas’s leadership and compassion are invaluable to CARE.
A Swiss businesswoman and founder of Pure Africa, Elisabeth is committed to responsible tourism and sustainability. She leads by example through local conservation projects, waste management, and community support. Her business acumen and compassion are central to CARE’s operations.
Founder of AJA Design, Lisa brings 30+ years of expertise in design and brand consultancy, recognized nationally and internationally. A rural enthusiast, she also established Wild Bhiza Stables near Victoria Falls, promoting natural horsemanship and supporting the community. Lisa’s marketing, PR, and animal care experience are invaluable to CARE.
CARE provides affordable and accessible veterinary care for domestic animals and livestock. Our clinic offers vaccinations, sterilisation, treatment for injuries, deworming, and support for animal cruelty cases, ensuring healthier animals and safer communities.
Through mobile clinics, school programs, and rural outreach, CARE delivers vital animal health services and educates communities about responsible animal care, disease prevention, and coexistence with wildlife. We empower people with the knowledge and resources to improve animal welfare locally.
CARE actively supports the welfare of working donkeys and intervenes in cases where wildlife needs assistance. Our team provides treatment, promotes humane management practices, and works to reduce conflict between domestic animals and wildlife, contributing to a balanced and compassionate environment.
